Jim Lynch Reads ‘Truth Like The Sun’ on the Monorail
May 28, 2012
On Wednesday, May 30, 2012, local Washington author, Jim Lynch, will be on board the Seattle Center Monorail from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. reading from his critically acclaimed new novel, Truth Like the Sun.
Riders can listen to the author as they ride by some of the sights made famous by the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair which Jim brings to vivid life in the novel.
Rick Simonson of Elliott Bay Book Company says, ‘This book is one of a kind, and a great story. At a time when Seattle is celebrating the anniversary of the World’s Fair, Lynch’s novel is a bracing reminder of the larger context: an uncertain city hoping to make a mark in mid-century, and then figuring out where it is in a more globalized world fifty years later. It’s smart – and unique – to link these with one wonderfully rendered character, still trying to have a hand in how his city will go.
The Monorail departs every 10 minutes and travels directly between Seattle Center and Westlake Center. A one-way ticket is $2.25 for adults and $1.00 for youths (5-12), seniors (65+), disabled, persons with Medicare Cards, and Active Duty U.S. Military Personnel with ID.
