As of 3/17/2020 Seattle Center Monorail is temporarily closed until further notice.
*LAST UPDATED 4/6/20*
Effective Monday, March 16, 2020 at 7:00pm, Seattle Center Monorail will go out of service. We expect this closure to go until at least April 9, but will continually assess conditions as we determine a date for reopening.
We suspended service to reduce COVID-19 exposure and transmission and because there are other public transit options available (King County Metro bus service) serving to connect Seattle Center and Downtown. We will resume service as soon as it is prudent to do so from a public health perspective.
Over this past weekend (March 21-22), Seattle Center Monorail only carried about 5% of normal expected ridership; we normally carry over 9,000 passengers on a Saturday in March, but had less than 550 passengers this past Saturday.
Seattle Monorail Services employees will use this time to complete maintenance and facilities work to prepare for reopening.
