On Saturday, May 19, 2012, First Book-Seattle and Elliott Bay Book Company will co-sponsor ‘What Was Your First Book?’, a Read-A-Thon of local community members, including Monorail driver, Craig Nelson, who will take turns reading aloud the very first children’s books they fell in love with. The Monorail celebrated its 50th Anniversary on March 24, 2012. Over 10,000 people rode the trains on this special day. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., train tours, memorabilia displays, Elvis interpretations and a public ceremony marked this significant milestone and paid tribute to the Monorail’s remarkable history.
