Job Title: Monorail Driver and Customer Service Representative (Hybrid position)
Reports to: Operations Supervisor
FSLA Status: Non-exempt; At-will
Compensation and Benefits: Starting hourly rate is $22.50/hour. Upon successfully passing Monorail Operator Training, hourly rate increases to $24.00/hour.

Schedule & Availability:
This is a part-time hybrid position. Shifts typically range from 6-9 hours, including weekends and afternoon/evening hours. The Monorail operates 7 days a week, 363 days a year.
We value work-life balance and strive to schedule employees with two consecutive days off whenever possible. Monthly schedules are released at least one month in advance.
Position Objective: The Seattle Center Monorail system plays a significant role in providing fast, direct transportation to and from events at Seattle Center. This unique position includes learning how to operate the historic Seattle Center Monorail as well as working as a customer service representative to assist passengers.

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Schedule: During the training period, typical shifts would be scheduled during the day, Monday through Friday. Once training is completed, scheduled shifts are typically Monday-Friday from 6:00 am-2:00 pm, with some weekend, evening, and on-call shifts based on operational needs, approximately 2-3 times a month. This will be discussed more during the interview process.
Position Objective: Serve as a vital member of our maintenance team by openly contributing efforts, insights, expertise, and experience. Our goal is to achieve a status in which every asset for which we are responsible or upon which we depend is continually maintained in a State of Good Repair and is excellent in appearance and cleanliness. Performing a variety of skilled technical duties such as performing inspections, troubleshooting, preventative and corrective maintenance, and component changeouts on Seattle Center Monorail trains. Ensuring that equipment and facilities are fully available to our operations team, except when scheduled out of service for pre-planned work.
Essential Functions:
- Critically conduct preventative maintenance inspections and precisely record and describe conditions requiring repair or further inspection.
- Perform ordinary maintenance on all systems, facilities, and signage, including preventative maintenance, repairs, and changeouts.
- Accurately record work performed, parts and supplies used, and time spent on all tasks for posting and tracking in maintenance software.
- Develop a working knowledge of all elements of SMS systems and facilities; become an expert in the function, maintenance, and repair of all systems and facility components that SMS maintains with internal staff.
- Continually follow all work and safety procedures; and
- Participate in the department’s on-call rotation; work overtime and respond to emergency situations when requested.
- Occasional Guest Assistance on Platform
- Welcome guests and answer general questions about Seattle Center Monorail
- Provide directions to passengers, letting them know where to buy a ticket and where to wait for the next train arriving at the station
Training Overview:

Education, Experience, and Abilities Required:

Job Title: Temp Event Services Representative (Part-Time)
Reports to: Operations Supervisor
Position Objective: The Monorail system plays a significant role in providing fast, direct transportation to and from events at Seattle Center. Primary responsibilities include greeting passengers, assisting passengers with purchasing monorail tickets, scanning tickets/ORCA cards, and directing passengers to promote efficient line flow.
Compensation and Schedule: Hourly rate $23.00/hour.
Seattle Monorail Services offers medical insurance to all employees who work a minimum of 25 hours per week. Plan enrollment occurs on the first day of the month following the plan’s 60-day waiting period and sometimes falls within the new-hire probationary period (90 days).
